Liz & Michelle Take on the Lobster

April 23, 2012

So this past weekend, Liz and I decided to take on the lobster. We are sort-of obsessed with butter soaked hotdog-like buns piled high with succulent bits of freshly cooked (buttery) lobster. SO! we decided to start our adventure at Smorgasburg on Saturday. We satisfied our stomachs with some Kombucha, freshly shucked oysters (Liz’s first one), a Brooklyn Kitchen sausage and slaw dog, and a Red Hook lobster roll (Connecticut style of course!). We finished off the day baking in the sun as our food coma’s set in.

Sunday brunch was more than we bargained for… I think our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. As soon as we walked into the Lobster Joint (in Greenpoint), my mouth started to water. They had a brunch menu that was full of seafood goodness, including a bloody mary with a WHOLE chuck of lobster claw meat. Deciding that both the brunch and their daily menu was too good to just pick from one, we settled on a heaping order of fried clams and one of the largest side salads I have ever seen. Both items were large enough for an entree, and those were probably the best fried clams I had ever had. We finished off the meal an amazing truffle mushroom frittata with a side of asparagus and the lobster rancheros. Ummm Yum.
