The traditional 6th anniversary gift is iron and that may not sound super exciting, but I think you can have fun with it.

For my gift to Albert, I got him a golf club aka, an iron. He once told me I could never go wrong if I got him something for golf and I took him at his word. Since I don’t know too much about the sport or the gear, I enlisted the help of my brother. While Albert was out, I took photos of all the clubs in his golf bag, sent them to my brother, and simply had him tell me what club he needed. The new club arrived the day before he hit the course so I love that he immediately got use out of his gift.
If your spouse isn’t a golfer, here are some other iron-related gift ideas:
- A nice [customizable] button down shirt (because it’s something you iron…get it?!)
- A custom burger/steak brand for the guy who likes to grill
- A cast iron mini – sure you can get a full cast iron pan, but I’d go with something a bit more novel, like this piggy pan (good for cornbread), this mini pan that would make a very cute breakfast in bed or personal-sized cobbler, or this heart waffle maker.
- Stick another iron in the fire…literally. You can find all sorts of fireplace tools (pokers, screens, log holders) made out of iron. Or you can just go with the metaphor and get tools in a material you like better.
PS – It has nothing to do with iron, but our parents gifted us 3 month of Plonk Wine Club and it’s been such a great way to learn about new varietals. The wines have all been great with really cute labels – so much so that I think I might renew the subscription on my own.
PPS – In case you’re wondering what Albert got me for our anniversary, I’m sorry to tell you it wasn’t iron either…it was the most beautiful dainty jewelry and I have ZERO qualms about not being traditional haha
