Mirepoix

Work has been busy lately, but a very fun kind of busy. I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to figure out a groove soon and get back to regular posting. For now, I’m happy to offer the latest three things that have been making me happy…because I’ve been pretty dang happy recently.

I just got back from a fun little girls’ trip to the Bahamas. It was just me and Amanda so it was pretty lowkey, but it was EXACTLY what I needed. I got tipsy one night, sure, but I drank less than I normally would on vacation. Most of my time was spent hanging by the pool, reading a ton, and doing some really amazing people watching. I was able to truly relax, and it was blissful. I’ve come to terms with the fact that [at this stage] traveling with our kid is just parenting in a different location and affords zero alone/chill time. And the logistics of leaving that kid alone with someone when he can’t really talk and weighs a ton are less than simple. Currently, our best bet for true relaxation means doing our own vacations vs. going away as a couple. Last weekend was my turn; this weekend my beau is going on a golf trip with the guys. Eventually we’ll be able to travel together or as a family, but for now, I’m happy we’ve figured out how to support each other so we each get some much needed rest/fun time. I can’t recommend a getaway more.

Just before going on my Bahamas trip, we all went to Savannah for a short weekend jaunt so I could attend my 20-year [GASP] high school reunion. It was so great to see so many people I haven’t spoken to in forever – it felt too short!

My new hyperfixation meal is sandwiches (preferably tuna) wrapped in seaweed. I’ve tried a ton of different combos/flavorings and could pretty much eat it daily…and have for the last week.
