Well, here we are. The social season has commenced. There’s something going on every single weekend and we’ve even got weeknight dinners in the books. It might be exhausting and expensive, but it’s also extremely fun. All of a sudden, Finn is starting to get stuff, which makes it way more fun to experience things with him. He understood how to open his bag for trick or treating, counted to 10, and told me his name was both Albert and Finn when I asked. This is what I’ve been waiting for!

Over the weekend, we took a trip to the Bronx Zoo with friends for Boo At The Zoo. Finn enjoyed all of it, but was most interested in the music, turtles, and feeding the goats. Who cares that they have amazing huge animals you can’t see anywhere else, right? Honestly, he was happy so it was all worth it.

We were going to dress him as something else but didn’t get our act together so Finn’s Halloween costume was an astronaut since he already has several pairs of NASA pajamas and a NASA jacket. We still wanted to do a family costume for a party we were going to on Saturday night so at the very last minute I ran to H&M and Target to get supplies that would turn me into a rocket ship and Albert into outer space. The party was at 6 and I left the house at about 3:30. I spent less than $50 for all three of us and crafted my costume (out of a $13 H&M dress, earrings, card stock, and a party garland) during GA/FL halftime. I was honestly super proud of myself. We had a lot of fun at the party and then kept the festivities going on Halloween itself with Finn’s costume parade at school followed by a carnival, fall festival, and neighborhood/building trick or treating.

I’ve been craving buff chick lately and finally decided there’s no reason I couldn’t have it for Taco Tuesday. Lets go crazy. I cut boneless skinless chicken breast into bitesize chunks and then simmered in buffalo sauce, turning frequently til cooked through. I served it with all the fixins (including light sour cream, not pictured) and it really hit the spot.
