My New Substack

So I decided to start a Substack. Substacks are the new blogs and I decided to jump on the bandwagon. BUT this blog isn’t going anywhere. I see the two formats serving different purposes, which means the Substack won’t replace it. If you’re unfamiliar, a Substack basically serves as a blog (or podcast or website) where the posts are [typically] published and distributed as a newsletter that people can subscribe to. That means creators can actually make money for their work. I’m not looking to make money at this stage, but I like that it leaves the option open for later. Instead, I’m using it to share a different type of content.

So what’s different? On the blog, you’ve probably noticed that posts fall into pretty distinct categories:

  • Things I Cook
  • Restaurant Reviews
  • Book Reviews
  • “Other” aka Slice of Life – this includes those Thursday Mirepoix posts, along with the occasional gift guide, baby recap, or travel post

Almost [not all, but almost] all posts somehow tie back to food/bev in some way, even those in the “other” category. I always pair my book reviews with a drink, my Travel Journal posts always include must-try local foods, and my weekly Mirepoix roundup usuallyyyy includes some mention of food because those posts are about things that have made me happy…and food usually makes me happy. But sometimes I just like to go off, ya know? I want to spout my theories on the latest romantasy novel, vent about what it’s really like to parent a toddler, and dissect the latest episode of Real Housewives. Based on the views/comments these kind of posts get on my TikTok or IG stories, I feeeeel like other people may be interested in hearing my take and hashing it out alongside me. This content doesn’t quite fit in the buckets of the blog, but it’s still stuff I’m itching to say and if you enjoy ranting/laughing about that kind of stuff, you can opt in.

Also, I get that people may not want to go to the nav bar and type in www dot peaches to apples dot com. They may want to get to these posts in the easiest way possible so each issue will link to that week’s posts. So basically, the Substack lets me talk about the more random stuff in case anyone is interested AND makes the less random blog stuff even less of a lift for you to consume. Hope you enjoy!
