I’m happy to report that February doesn’t feel like it’s dragging quite as slowly as January 2024, the longest month in history. It also helps that it warmed up a bit. I hope this warming trend is here to stay, just like I hope my reading is because I’ve been crushing my goal so far this year.

The Super Bowl this year was a big one for our house because my beau is a huge 49ers fan. Sadly, they lost after an exciting second half in overtime. While I was certainly rooting for them, if they had to lose I was happy to see that a former Dawg, Mecole Hardman, scored the winning touchdown for the Chiefs. Also, as a sort of silver lining, the last time the Niners lost the Super Bowl, it meant Albert actually went to work the next day, where he was gifted some last minute Knicks tickets that he used to ask me out on our first date. (Sadly, it did not go over well when I tried to point this out to lighten the mood post-game and show that sometimes really great things come out of a bad game.) We watched the first 20 minutes of the game at our local pizza spot and then the rest at home since Finn needed to go to bed. I love theming my Super Bowl menu but kept it very simple this year since it would just be us. I made KC-style pulled pork with a vinegar-based slaw and buffalo chicken dip with toasted San Fran sourdough for dipping. The food actually came out really good for a meal that required almost ZERO effort (and, even better, almost no cleanup).

I’ve had some luck lately getting into Peloton studio classes but Monday was the best one to date because it was a bootcamp with my favorite instructor, Adrian Williams. It doesn’t always happen, but he was even better in person. He was the most personable instructor who actually chatted with us after class. It was one of the best Peloton experiences I’ve had and now I’m stalking the site to squeeze into more.

Happy belated Valentine’s Day! I always prefer cooking something special rather than go out to eat (same when I was single – it was my excuse to cook something like filet mignon) so we’re celebrating tonight because my beau wanted steak and actual Valentine’s Day fell on Ash Wednesday when he couldn’t eat meat. We still did a little day-of celebrating with V with a craft event at his school, but I’m looking forward to our special surf and turf meal tonight.
