Mirepoix

Can I go back on vacation? I had the most incredible time with my family in the DR and want to go back…immediately. So now here I am, trying to plan my next vacation. But since I don’t actually know how I’ll get away, I’m focusing that energy on being a tourist in my own city. While I have some downtime from work, I’m planning full neighborhood days. That means picking an area and doing coffee, lunch, shopping, activities. I’m keeping myself busy (and happy) by crossing places off my list in the East Village, West Village, Greenpoint, LES, Nolita, and more.

I was particularly exhausted after a recent workout and took a few minutes to sit out in our courtyard to collect myself while listening to a podcast. Having a space like this available makes such a huge difference. With nobody else around, it was particularly calming. When you know the cooldown is going to be like this, its almost motivation to do the actual workout.

Just before leaving for our trip I decided to have a Tessy Day and do all sorts of things that make me happy. That usually entails trying a new restaurant, visiting a bookstore, and exploring a neighborhood. In this case, I did all those things AND a fun custom activity (more on that soon). I spent most of the afternoon strolling the Greenpoint neighborhood, which I’m now obsessed with…and it endeared itself to me when I realized it included a coffee window right next to a store that stocked heaps of vintage Levis.

I was a very happy camper for our entire vacation. Most of our water time was spent by the pool, but we spent most of Monday on the beach and it was great. The water was warm and beautifully teal and there was a full bar mere steps away. Heavenly.
