Presidents’ Day AND Valentine’s Day all on the same long weekend – what a lovely treat! This one felt like a full long weekend in every sense of the word – full of activities, full of socializing, and full of happiness.

Valentine’s Day is great, but I don’t have any major interest in going out. We go out with relative frequency and I don’t need the upcharges. What does feel special, though, is cooking a really nice meal at home and watching something on tv together that we’ve been excited about. This year it was crab topped steak with sautéed mushrooms and a gorgeous meat and cheese plate while we watched the epic #SNL50 concert and literally danced around the apartment. It was a great Friday night. Saturday, however, we were ready to go OUT. Having a double date with friends was pure fun, even more so because there was no valentines pressure.

The chopped cheese is an NYC thing and I love it. The bodega around the corner from my apartment makes a dang good one. If you’ve never had one, fix that situation. It was exactly what I needed on Sunday morning.

On Monday we did what seemingly every other toddler family in Manhattan did during the day off of school/work: took our kid to the Children’s Museum. V loves it and was so proud of the art project he did while there that he couldn’t stop admiring his work at lunch afterwards. He later said that it was a really great day and that made me so extra happy.
