Book Review: The Resort

The Koh Sang Resort is a tiny island off the coast of Thailand that’s become a haven for expats looking to escape their pasts by becoming perma-vacationers. Cass is one such escapee who now lives as a scuba instructor and avoiding her secrets. But as bodies start piling up, her secret won’t remain one for much longer and she’s about to find out that all her freebird not-a-care-in-the-world friends have secrets of their own.

Ok so I was not a fan. It was fast paced, a good quality in a thriller, but the reveal/connection between the two women that the book was hurtling towards was iffy. One character is convinced Cass is a terrible person, but when her reasons are revealed, there is a lotttt of gray area there. And then there’s a lot of unnecessary bad people/secrets. Pick a lane. The idea was there, and I hate giving negative reviews, but it was just trying to do too much and others have done it way better.

1.75 out of 5 stars.

Pair with: a piña colada that’s half melted because you know it’s too sweet and you’re not really enjoying it, but this is just what you’re drinking now
