Mirepoix

Over the weekend I continued my quest to find new friends and deepen my skill set when I met with a writing group. And something really cool happened: I got a massive burst of inspiration and motivation. I have an idea for a book and now that I’ve started writing, I actually think there’s something there. I’m really excited to continue the process and hope it turns into something real. I don’t have plans to go to a meetup this weekend, but that could always change. I do have plans to go to a housewarming party and maybe even transition V to a big boy bed. And OH MY GOSH today is May. My mind, she’s a bit blown.

Saturday was Independent Bookstore Day…as if I needed an excuse to celebrate. As it happened, Finn requested to spend the morning at the bookstore (followed by dim sum) and I picked up quite a few goodies. Possibly my favorite holiday.

Last night I made a fabulous rice bowl with my fave, Spam. Normally I make a super quick marinade but this time reveled in the shortcut that is Bachan’s Japanese bbq sauce. It had plenty of toppings and really hit the spot. Even better was being able to clean up everything before Finn even went to bed. It’s a really nice feeling walking out of his room and being able to immediately sink into the couch without having to fuss with the kitchen.

I didn’t have time to drink any of my coffee before leaving the apartment this morning, but it turns out walking to work with a cute to-go cup on a lively spring day may be even better.
