Fall seems to be starting right on time. There was a slight chill in the air the minute Labor Day was in the rearview. Finn is at a new school with new faces and routines, and it’s been an adjustment. He’s enjoying everything, but his skepticism of all this newness is manifesting itself. He’s pushing boundaries and pushing bedtime. It’s a reminder that life as a two-working-parent household is not for the faint of heart. My beau left yesterday for vacation so I’m gearing up and excited for some quality V time. Otherwise I’m looking ahead on the calendar and trying to plan some festive fall activities so I can squeeze in all the vibes before the weather turns cold and I turn grumpy.

Unfortunately, Finn is not going to the same school as most of his friends so I jumper at the chance to bring him to a play date at the park with the buds he’ll no longer be seeing everyday.

Last year, Kathleen and I went to the Armory Show (a high end art show at the Javitz Center) followed by a great meal at a fave Italian spot. We had so much fun that we decided to do the exact same thing this year. There’s something extra fun about feeling so fancy and cultured…and then getting absolutely wasted like a couple of degenerates. Kathleen also made a good point that going out on Friday night makes the weekend feel longer – no qualms about that!

I haven’t been cooking from cookbooks lately (it was actually a 2025 resolution), but a recent trip to the bookstore has me feeling inspired.
