This has been a busy week and the weekend is going to kick it into overdrive. I’m heading to California for a wedding and it’s going to be a whirlwind trip. The Alberts are staying in NYC because it’s going to be a super quick trip, and I’m weirdly excited for the airplane time?! I’ve got some good tv downloaded and a fresh book to crack open. I’ll only have about 3 hours in San Francisco itself before heading to Oakland/Berkeley. I wish I had more time, but I’m excited to explore a new place. I’m also SUPER excited to see my parents and aunts/uncles! Now I just need to do a load of laundry and pack…

French toast is one of those dishes I somehow never made myself. I typically gravitate toward savory brunch dishes and on the rare occasion I craved French toast, my mom always made it for me. Now that V requests challah weekly, I have a surplus of bread and I finally decided to take advantage. I didn’t realize just how easy it was to make! I added a little vanilla and pumpkin pie spice to the egg/milk mixture and it was a great move. Inspired, some may say.

At a recent visit to a favorite wine shop, I noticed these bottled cocktails from Via Carota (a restaurant that very much lives up to the hype). Isn’t the packaging fab?!

Last night, I attended curriculum night at Finn’s school. We got to hear from the principal before breaking off to see our child’s classroom and speak with his teacher. Because we initially thought we’d be sending Finn elsewhere, we never toured the school and this was my first time actually being inside. Unlike his last place, we don’t get daily pictures and updates, so it was really nice to see what his day is like. The school takes a more progressive approach than I’m accustomed to, but perhaps Finn will thrive in this environment. As a private school kid, this was also my first time ever being in a public school and I definitely noticed a difference. Not in a bad way, but it really hit home that I’ve reached a new stage of parenting, one where involvement and attention are paramount.
