Michael Imperioli is a great actor…but he’s also really good at building out a bar. Scarlet Lounge is a red-drenched cocktail bar with art deco vibes in the UWS.
They’ve got all the usual suspects, like the French 75 and the Manhattan, but they also have a thoughtful list of signature cocktails, including the bartender’s choice, which is exactly what I did when I couldn’t decide between a few options. I told the waitress my favorite flavor profiles and the bartender whipped up something perfect for me.
A mixology-forward bar is exactly what this neighborhood needs. It’s an entirely different experience from Jake’s Dilemma, The Gin Mill, and George Keeley’s, the next closest bars. At 40 and seeking a nice pre- or post-dinner cocktail, this is the kind of place I’m looking for.
