Lori Jayne

No, I’m not introducing you to Erika Jayne’s long lost sister (oh how I wish!). This burger joint makes its way from Bushwick to Manhattan by way of Union Square’s new Time Out Market. It’s not a huge menu, but Lori Jayne has put a nice mark on the sandwich and fries combo.

I went with the buffalo chicken sandwich, which was nice and sauce. It could have used juuust a pinch more blue cheese crumbles, but the sauce itself was balanced (nice lil tang of vinegar) and the chicken juicy. I love that they use griddled Martin’s buns. I love a Martin’s bun. The fries were good but a smidge crispier than I like (I’m a weirdo who likes soft fries), but once you add one of their Asian-influenced sauces, the fries moved up a level.

I’ll be back because I need to try the burger (with caramelized onions and a thiccc pickle). I also need to try the steak fries. It’s a whole ass steak on top of the fries with sauce poured on top. OKAY. This restaurant used to be in the back of a dive bar in Bushwick, which feels like a very Bushwick thing. Now that it’s inside a union square food hall, it doesn’t feel edgy, per se, but the flavor is still there. Maybe it’s because I’m 40 now, but that’s all I care about at this point.
