This weekend we have three 3-/4-year-old birthday parties. That feels like a lot. But rather than let it stress me out, I’m enjoying the fact that it means the vast majority of my weekend is planned and I don’t have to worry about how to entertain Finn. We are six days out from our trip to Savannah for my favorite holiday and nothing can bring me down…said as Wicked lyric, which I might try and see tonight after my haircut meep!

My father was in NYC for a brief 24 hours. I didn’t think I’d be able to see him because the only window of opportunity would be after his last meeting before he left for the airport. Considering my 100% in-office policy (in a completely different part of the city), it seemed impossible. I tried not to get too bummed since I’ll be seeing him in less than a week for Thanksgiving, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t THRILLED when my office had to shut off power to fix an electrical issue and we all had to WFH. It meant I was able to sneak away for lunch and we had a great time in a cozy restaurant uptown.

My Dad wasn’t the only one with a quick trip. I went to DC for 23 hours for Liz’ baby shower. It was so so great to see her and it was nice to have the reminder that a 3.5 hour train ride isn’t so difficult. Friends aren’t all that far.

I made the most of my whirlwind trip. I took myself to a fancy dinner and read tons of my book, caught up on my trash tv, and even squeezed in a 3 hour hang with Alex. We grabbed a bite and perused some cute shops in her lively Georgetown neighborhood, where I spotted this orange and magnolia leaf wreath. While I looked at other things in the next store, she went back and got it for me. I immediately hung it up when I got home and love how it looks – so fall!
