This cold is really getting to me, particularly because the heat in our apartment is not working anywhere other than V’s room. (Thankfully it’s working there, or else we’d have a real problem.) This past weekend was very busy, but this weekend is more of a mix, and I’m looking forward to it. I still need to catch up on all the Super Bowl commercials I missed while handling bedtime (we decided it was too cold to do anything for the big game) but I’m watching the halftime show on repeat because Bad Bunny was incredible!

For Albert’s birthday, I got him tickets to a big St. John’s game, and it was time to cash in. He decided to take a friend, but we’d already locked down a sitter for the evening since it was initially going to be a date night. Rather than waste the sitter, I made plans with friends and those plans began with a leg massage. I can’t tell you how incredible this was after a long week of work. All weekends should begin like this.

New York has been miserably cold – like so cold that Finn was crying in the final two blocks of our 5 m-block walk to a restaurant. But in those moments where the snow is flurrying and the wind chill isn’t bringing the “real feel” to -16, it’s actually quite beautiful.

Finn had three play dates this weekend – including our first as host. I was actually really nervous! I stocked up on games, crafts, and snacks so they wouldn’t be bored. We ran into some issues when they couldn’t compromise on what to play, but overall it went well! The other two were more just-show-up-and-enjoy, so no stress there. Mostly, it was nice to have actual plans throughout the entire weekend; otherwise, we never would have found the motivation to leave the house in this weather.
