Mirepoix

Passover ends tonight and I am super happy about it. Let’s free ourselves from these dietary restrictions! V has been on spring break since last Thursday, but we didn’t have vacation plans so he’s been in camp the whole time. That means this week, as the holiday celebrations wind down and the kitchen is cleaned up, our day-to-day has gone back to normal with basically the same routine. Tomorrow is our ninth wedding anniversary and I’m really looking forward to celebrating this weekend.

Each month I am shocked by how much easier it is to hang with Finn. Little by little, we’re able to just spend time together. His attention span used to be impossibly short, and running down the clock felt like a Herculean task. Now, it’s still exhausting, but the hours pass with way less difficulty. On Saturday, I met up with the two Alberts at the playground and around noon took V for the rest of the day so Albert could get in a run and do a mountain of grocery shopping. Finn and I went to the bookstore, then grabbed a bite at one of his favorite spots where he was fully entertained with stickers that we got at the aforementioned bookstore, popped into a toy store for a minute, and then spent more than an hour at the Museum of Natural History. We walked back into the apartment around 5:30 pm and after a bath, we reached the point where screen time is a-ok. I may have been tired, but I didn’t feel like I was treading water the way I used to. I’m loving this whole thing more and more with every passing month.

Pastels, lace, and ruffles on Easter morning.

It was aggressive, but we hosted both a Seder on Thursday evening and then Easter lunch just three days later. I had to take Thursday off work in order to get the Seder prepared and would never have gotten Easter ready if it wasn’t for Albert who did all the grocery shopping and even got into the kitchen to cook the beef tenderloin. Hosting both holidays was a big undertaking, but we approached it as a team effort and [I think] it all came out perfectly.
