Stylin: Eataly Date Night

Part of the fun of enjoying a meal is dressing for it.  The right outfit sets the mood.  I think the food just tastes better when I’m dressed appropriately for the occation.  My ensemble for a night out with the girls is very different from the one I would wear to a Sunday boozy brunch.  Here, I’ll show you how I style myself for all sorts of different meals.

It’s hard to believe, but Albert and I have been dating for TWO YEARS.  I’ve never dated anyone that long so this is a big milestone for me.  When it comes to anniversaries, I’m not really into actual gifts.  The event is a celebration of us as a couple so I prefer a heartfelt card and just doing something together.  We decided to honor the day by going to a favorite place, Eataly.  The great thing about Eataly is that it’s comprised of several mini-restaurants.  You can certainly choose one of the more formal ones and have a full sit down meal, but my favorite thing to do is hop around.  Since everything is connected in the overall Eataly space, you can buy a bottle of wine at your first stop (which for us is always La Piazza, where the fresh mozz, meat, and cheese counters are) and tote it around to all the other restaurant stations.  Since this was our gift to each other, we alternated who paid for each round.  I got the meat and cheese plate, he picked up the pasta, and so on.  I’m not saying the way you celebrate your anni is lame…but I’m saying our way might be better.

So what do I wear to something like this?  Well, we were doing this on a Friday and going straight from work.  Also, the stations we chose are on the more casual side – you even stand up at tables at the La Piazza station.  It felt like a pants situation, but I figured I would go a bit funkier than jeans, seeing as how this was a special occasion and all.  I’m not a leggings gal and these front panel leather things are as close as I’m going to get.  They don’t have a zipper or buttons, but the material is much thicker than leggings so I was able to get on board with these.  It didn’t hurt that these were on sale for $70 at Pookie & Sebastian.  I paired them with a chambray shirt from Gap, statement necklace from Bauble Bar, and two-tone booties from Payless.
