Last week was bad. This week is better. I’m happy with that progress.
Before heading to Bronxville for her shower, Kathleen suggested we meet for a glass of champagne – it was a celebration, after all! Since we were leaving out of Grand Central, we thought there was no better place to meet than the swanky, somewhat hidden Campbell Apartment. The 1920s details were striking. I don’t absolutely love paying $16+ for a glass of prosecco, but this space is a New York gem.
Kathleen’s bridesmaids did a fabulous job decorating for her shower. Since she’s having a beachfront wedding, the shower theme was beachy shabby chic. The centerpieces above were handmade an gorgeous. I couldn’t believe this was not a full time job for the girl who made them. Aside from that, there was a large net above the gift table with pictures of the couple and the phrase “Two Less Fish In The Sea.” Finally, they had a cake with a beach scene (complete with “sand”), escort cards written on sand dollars, and custom wine glasses as gifts. They really outdid themselves. It was nice to have a warmer vibe indoors since a blizzard raged outside.
Last Thursday night was the first time I was able to leave the office at a remotely reasonable hour. As an added bonus, some family friends were in town and offered up an extra set of tickets to The Lion King on Broadway. You may think it would be cheesy to see humans playing animals, but this is not a common puppetry show. It was spectacular, and the opening scene was like nothing I’ve ever seen.
