Since none of us are from New Orleans, we decided to ask our restaurant hostess (from Coquette) for recommendations. We told her we wanted something in the neighborhood with a relaxed vibe where we could get a good glass of wine or cocktail. We weren’t looking to flash for beads if ya know what I’m sayin. She directed us to Bouligny Tavern, which, like many bars and restaurants in New Orleans, is in and old house.
The first thing I said when we walked inside is that I felt like we were in Don Draper’s office. The decor, from the color scheme to the furniture to the [actual] records they played, was full on mid century modern. That was a fabulous era for cocktail culture and I felt transported.
