Sometimes I think there’s a place you’ve just got to know about and my Public Service Announcements (PSAs) will give you the full skinny.
If you’re lucky enough to walk past Old Print Shop when they’re actually open (Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM), do yourself a favor and stop inside. I happened to walk by on a rare Saturday they were open (which apparently won’t happen again for ages). Once inside I saw the place was covered with artifacts of days gone by.
There are tons of maps and prints for just about any subject. I saw botanicals, baseball, and dress prints featuring hoop skirts. They’ve been around for well over a century, so they have tons of work just piled in there. If you’re looking to buy, the staff is very helpful and can direct you to any subject matter. If you’re just there to look, it can be fun to browse their vast collection, or you can look around their gallery and whatever they may be exhibiting at the time.
I had just come from a running class and was covered in sweat so I was in no place to purchase that day. However, I would love to go back after having spoken with my beau about a subject we would both like to showcase. It would be cool to hang a cluster of art with such history.
