It’s reeeeeeally starting to feel like the holidays. I took Tuesday and Wednesday off work this week and it was nice to have the time to run errands and take everything in before the craziness of the holidays begins.
I didn’t really realize until November that I had about 12 unused vacation days. There’s no way I could burn through all of them, but I decided to at least take some of them and scheduled 4 random days off in December. I had grand plans to run tons of errands…but then I remembered how freaking cold NYC can be. While it was nice in theory to walk around the Bryant Park Christmas Village, my fingertips were far too cold for me to stand outside with a snack from any of the yummy food stalls. Instead, I walked across the street to warm up with some coffee and warm French food at Maison Kayser. I always love the experience of people watching and lunching like a fancy person.
I love how all the local businesses paint their windows during the holiday season. There are some particularly good ones in my neighborhood this year.
There’s a random whiteboard in my team’s area at work, and we’ve taken to decorating it. We had a nice depiction of hand turkeys around Thanksgiving and now have a lovely little fireplace for the holidays. It really helped us look put together for our contribution to the floor’s potluck/cookie swap.
