It was so nice having my parents here this weekend. I’m still not over it and the countdown til I go there is officially on. It was a super quick visit and we didn’t do anything crazy. In fact, we spent a lot of time just hanging out on the couch at home. But here’s the thing: when you’re used to seeing your parents all the time and it’s been NINE WHOLE MONTHS since you last saw them in person, it’s the simple couch time you miss the most. In other news, the weather is simply gorgeous right now. I went on a 5.7 mile walk yesterday and quick run this morning. Today’s run was only 15 minutes, but I feel like I accomplished so much before 9 am. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and I could smell the honeysuckle from the park. Not a bad way to kick off a Thursday!

I finally started making fresh pasta in month 2 of the pandemic. I always wanted to do it (it was my main motivation for registering for the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer) but was intimidated. Once I actually did it, I realized how simple the process is and am no obsessed. Every time I made some, my Mom would say “ooo next time I’m in New York that’s what I want to do.” So we did. Instead of going out to a trendy Italian restaurant, we turned our apartment into a legit trattoria. We went to Arthur Avenue for supplies and made an incredible meal with an impressive meat and cheese plate, a gorgeous salad, pastries for dessert, and the star of the show: fresh fettucini with a seafood sauce of squid, clams, and mussels. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect way to spend a Friday night (which I think means we’re all getting old).

I finally collected enough oyster plates to hang them on the wall and I love how it turned out. We left some room in the design so I can add more if/when I expand my collection.

Kathleen Barnes (of Carrie Bradshaw Lied) was praising this $35 Amazon set on her Insta stories and I had to see it for myself. Happy to say it lives up to the hype. I love the waffle material, it’s so comfy, there are a million colors (and a short sleeve version) to choose from, and that price simply can’t be beat. I am all about wearing pajamas as real clothing.
