Mirepoix

All of a sudden it was Friday and I realized we had no real plans for the weekend – something that NEVER happens. The world was truly our oyster. I had an insanely busy Thursday at work but that meant Friday was pretty chill so my beau and I met for a glass of vino before picking up the bambino and taking him to our local pizza spot for a fun supper. It was too early for us to eat so we just chatted it up with the owner and other patrons before heading home to have a chill movie night. I really feel like we dominated the rest of the weekend because both Saturday and Sunday we made a point to get out of the apartment early which meant we actually did stuff before shutting down during Finn’s 3-hour nap. The weekend was filled with Arthur Avenue adventures, brunch, bookstore strolls, an insanely fun workout class, some park time, and even a cheese plate. We may have a similar weekend ahead of us but this one will be even better because I have a Summer Friday tomorrow. Let the games begin!

Getting to the Strand around 10 am makes for a very relaxing browsing experience. Finn walked away with three new books for his library…I was told “that’s what Summer Fridays are for” when I tried to browse for myself.

The Mario Special at Mike’s Deli on Arthur Avenue is just such an amazing sandwich. Just look at her in all her glory. As always, it was our second stop on our Arthur Ave. adventure, after sidewalk oysters at Cosenza’s and followed by some steak at Vincent’s, pasta at Borgatti’s, and antipast at Casa della Mozzarella (where we should have gotten more seafood salad because it was a perfect summer treat).

Because we didn’t have any major plans, we were able to take advantage of the beautiful weather and spend some time in the park. I have a feeling we’ll be doing more of the same this weekend.
