Book Review: Heartburn

Rachel is very pregnant with her second child when she learns that her husband is having an affair. She wants him back yet rues the day he was born. It’s complicated. Rachel as a character, though funny, is also complicated. She makes mistakes and has little awareness of her privilege to run in the DC/NYC scene. But as she gets herself into one sticky situation after another, you can’t help but root for her. Because you know what? Marriage is complicated. Love is complicated. Food? Not so complicated.

This book is just SO Nora Ephron. It evokes the same feeling as When Harry Met Sally so if you’re into neurotic, fast-talking, witty characters…and food, this is for you. Also, it’s not technically Jewish, but it feels like it is. If you know you know.

5 out of 5 stars.
