Gifting: Decoded – 7th Anniversary

The traditional 7th anniversary gift is copper or wool – two items that make shopping for men pretty easy.

Since there are two traditional routes for year seven, I decided to gift Albert one of each. For the wool gift, I got him a blazer (and actually checked the tag to make sure it was made from a wool blend) that I found on Nordstrom. I like that it’s truly a sport coat with a fun pattern and not just half a suit. I could picture it with jeans and a hooded sweater underneath – the centerpiece of an outfit vs. “making it work” with a part of something he wore to someone’s wedding years ago. For the copper, I ordered a keychain made from a penny from our wedding year, handstamped with our initials.

If that’s not your vibe, here are some other gift ideas:

  • A copper belt buckle: I love the tally marks version…honestly I wish I had found this company when I was doing my original shopping. This would go well as a complement to the wool blazer if you’re going that route. A copper tie tack would also work for a “suiting” gift bundle.
  • A picnic or outdoor concert – complete with a Pendelton picnic blanket (love that they have versions for national parks, if you and your honey happen to have a fave)
  • Copper pot/pan. I would gift the whole meal along with it. Anyone who loves to cook knows that copper cookware is a big deal and, because of the price, can take years to accummulate.
  • A cute plant along with a copper plant mister.
  • If you don’t want to go with a suit/blazer, merino and cashmere are both wool and just yummy – socks, scarf, or a sweater here would be great.
