My first ever visit to the Jersey Shore was a short one (less than 20 hours), but it revealed a whole new area to love. We stayed with friends in Ocean City and discovered the joys of bay life. The bay has a totally different vibe from a beach – it feels more lake-like and was decidedly chill. But it was our visit to Deauville Inn that really hooked me.

There is, of course, an indoors – a full sit down restaurant that’s probably great at night, overlooking the water – but we remained outside at The Sandbar the whole time, right on the mini beach. It had everything we needed: an ice cream truck, bathroom access, water and cornhole, and servers for all our snack and bevvy needs.

We started with snowcones because why not?

I had a Hugo spritz and when we needed a little something to eat, we ordered some fries to share. They have an entire fry menu, loaded up all sorts of ways, like the buff chick version we got. I spied the lobster roll walking around and have to say it looked good.

There is something special about being able to sit in a chair and stare at boats with a drink in your hand. This is a great spot to spend an entire day. In fact, I’m plotting now to secure my invite for next summer.
