This past weekend was a great one. I love a theme and dressing up so I always enjoy Halloween. Our neighborhood does it right and it was fun to go trick or treating as a family before meeting up with all our neighbors at the local pizza place. On Saturday, V had requested dim sum palace and the bookstore and we delivered. That evening I got to watch the Dawgs beat Florida and I woke up Sunday to do a workout before hosting a little marathon get together. This week has been on the slow side, but after a weekend like that, I’m leaning into the extra sleep.

We did our Trader Joe’s run on Saturday so we’d be ready for the marathon and I couldn’t believe the Xmas decorations were going up…on November 1st. People were still too hungover from Halloween to take down their skeletons and I’m seeing tinsel?! I love the holiday spirit, but I want to spend a little time leaning into fall and Thanksgiving vibes first.

I didn’t do a ton of cooking for our marathon brunch. We picked up bagels, and I assembled all the fixins, I hacked a Trader Joe’s cake, made a big fruit salad, and threw some premade/frozen apps and desserts into the mix. The one thing I did make were frittata muffins. All you need is a dozen eggs, a splash of milk, and whatever mix-ins you like. I went with chopped deli ham and TJ’s shredded unexpected cheddar. 350 for 30 min – they came out GREAT. I love marathon Sunday, especially when the weather was as beautiful as it was this year. The city is aliiiive and everyone is jolly and supportive. It’s always extra fun when you have a close friend to cheer on, like we did.

I voted on Tuesday! To be honest, I really wasn’t happy with any of the options, but this city desperately needs new leadership. In recent years, it feels like we are increasingly at risk of losing our rights so it was incredibly important to me to get out and exercise my right to vote.
