Mirepoix

Tomorrow it’s May, and I’m realizing we have a lot going on next month. We’ve got weekend plans galore, but I’m not really mad about it, especially now that it’s feeling like spring and I no longer just want to avoid the cold by staying in my apartment.

The traditional gift for the 9th anniversary is pottery, and my beau got me a vase that he had no idea I had actually been eyeing at ABC Carpet & Home. I absolutely love it and love that it perfectly matches the pottery I got him. (Which was a vintage olive dish from Carnevale of Memphis.)

We’re pretty active and always doing things, but those things aren’t usually about Finn + his peers. He hasn’t been interested in team sports, and we have such a strong family unit that he prefers just to hang in our bubble. But I recognize that playing with others is pretty important, so I was happy to set up a play date with one of his day ones. We spent a couple hours at the Museum of Natural History, and I loved watching them giggle their way through the dinos.

Finn requested a snackie plate supper on Sunday night and I delivered. We took him to Zabars so he could pick out some of the items himself, and he really enjoyed tasting the cheeses. Now that he knows you can sample them, I may have created a monster. Also, I find the strained smile toddlers make when you ask them to smile to be both demonic and adorable.
