Sometimes I think there’s a place you’ve just got to know about and my Public Service Announcements (PSAs) will give you the full skinny.
Myzel’s Chocolate is a tiny shop I’ve passed many times without giving it a second thought. I assumed it was sort of a bodega for just sweets and, therefore, nothing special. Turns out this store is an amazing find. There are over 100 different kinds of licorice that they have imported from Europe. If you’re more of a chocolate fan, there are tons of truffles and bark, all made by the Myzel mother/daughter team.
I tried about 5 different types of licorice, my favorite being the mango. I also got two truffles that were anything but shabby. Whether you’re a black licorice person (not me) or a red licorice fan (or even just a chocolate lover), there is something in this old world store for you. Close to the theater district, this would be my ideal snack to sneak into a Broadway show.
