After reading Big Little Lies, I knew I needed to read another of Liane Moriarty’s books, stat. The intersecting stories of three women had me hooked immediately, and not just because one of those women is named Tess and works in marketing. Though Tess is looped into the complicated mess, this story does not start with her. It begins with Cecilia Fitzpatrick who finds a letter from her husband in the attic, to be opened in the event of his death. Who would be able to wait that long, especially when the mere mention of the letter has said husband acting strangely?!
Just looking at the unopened letter has Cecilia worried that her life may soon fall apart; meanwhile, two other women have just been delivered shocking news that leave them feeling like life as they know it is over. Tess has just learned her husband is in love with someone else and Rachel was served the news that her son and daughter-in-law would be taking her precious grandson all the way across the world.
They are all guard their feelings like precious secrets. Their lives are all about to change, but is that because they have kept all these thoughts inside or because they are finally breaking loose?
4.5 out of 5 stars.
