Part of the fun of enjoying a meal is dressing for it. The right outfit sets the mood. I think the food just tastes better when I’m dressed appropriately for the occation. My ensemble for a night out with the girls is very different from the one I would wear to a Sunday boozy brunch. Here, I’ll show you how I style myself for all sorts of different meals.
This December weather has been crazy! It was 66 degrees on December 13th. I haven’t experienced temps like that since I left the South. I am in NO WAY complaining about the warmth. I love it. It also means I could go to brunch in mid-December and truly take advantage of the Fall-like weather. Usually this time of year is so cold that it’s about function, not form. I’m too concerned about bundling up to worry about looking cute. But with the crisp weather we’ve had of late, I could go to brunch looking very Fall – it was all about a couple of bold accessories here.
No need to get too fancy for brunch at LIC Market; it’s a pretty chill place. But a mimosa is always a reason to put a little extra effort into your outfit. I chose to go with simple basics for the foundation of this outfit: dark skinnies from Pookie and Sebastian, a long tight [very old] tee from Pitaya, and brown heeled booties. For accessories, I went big. A big floppy hat (~$20 from Forever 21) and a green ombre statement necklace from Bauble Bar (~$30). I snagged most items in this outfit on sale so all together it came to $200. That’s if I had bought it all new. That shirt I’ve had since college. Final touches: a bold berry lip (custom made by me at Bite Lip Lab), a moto jacket my Mom found a year ago at TJ Maxx, and my new, monogrammed, navy bucket bag from Gigi New York (that was a treat yo self moment).
