Albert heads to CT this afternoon for Rachel and Jack’s rehearsal dinner and I’ll be joining on Saturday for the actual wedding. I can’t wait to celebrate with them this weekend!

Last week we celebrated Rebekah’s 30th birthday. It’s been a while since I’ve been out on a Tuesday and I might be getting too old for it, but it was fun. I didn’t get the chance to talk to the birthday girl much during the party so we hung back for a little after it ended so we could catch up, which was a really nice treat.

I bought new throw pillows for the couch – it’s fun to spruce up the apartment a bit! Even better, I got them at Century 21 and they were super cheap. Only $54 for all three.

Sunday was the 15th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. I am far more attuned to the senses of both loss and hope vibrating below these city streets now that I work within the World Trade Center complex. Most people I know who grew up in the New York/New Jersey areas can all name a person who was directly affected by the attacks (usually a family friend of a friend). Growing up in the South, that’s not something I can relate to. I remember exactly where I was when it happened, but we were far removed from anyone who was harmed by the attacks. I will never understand what my [now] fellow New Yorkers experienced. I have, however, been in this city for nearly a decade and have watched in awe as it has lifted itself up. I am proud to share this city with them and to call it my home.
