When a recent Sunday adventure took me to Washington Heights, I had to do some food research before walking out the door. Although it’s still Manhattan – and I’m already an uptowner – I’ve never ventured to the neighborhood in all my time living here. I needed to fuel up before our adventure and decided to forego my usual neighborhood coffee spot in favor of someplace in the Washington Heights area. Why not kick off the exploration with some java in hand, right?!
My research led me to Buunni Coffee, a small-batch shop specializing in Ethiopian roasts. We each ordered lattes (iced for my beau, hot for moi) and guzzled em right down. Bottom line: good coffee. It’s nice and balanced and they have a small but solid selection of pastries to go along with it. I was also impressed to see some tea specials.
Also, they have a partnership with Word Up book store which just makes me so happy. Coffee and books are literally the two things that fuel me.
