Book Review: The Housewives

We all know I loooove my Housewives. The canon of Bravo! shows is my guilty pleasure and I watch most of the franchises, believing the network set the bar for reality tv. I would go as far as to say I am an aficionado. Hey, we’ve all gotta be good at something, right?

If you, too, consider yourself a connoisseur of these sloppy ladies, this book is for you. It doesn’t read like cheesy, name-droppy fluff and that’s because it’s written by a fellow Housewives anthropologist. Brian Moylan has made a name for himself writing Housewives recaps for Vulture and knows all the franchises inside and out. With this book, he takes the Bachelor Nation approach and offers a history of the series. You’ll understand how Bravo! shaped these women and how, in turn, these women shaped pop culture. (Yes, there has been a true cultural impact; fight me on this.)
