Pompette

After four years of living in the neighborhood, I finally made it into Pompette. I always passed it on my morning runs but that proved to be an inappropriate time to stop inside. Not because it was 7 am…but because it wasn’t open. Let’s face it, there’s never a bad time to buy wine. But at about 15 blocks away, it’s not the first place I think of and it’s only top of mind on those morning runs, which we’ve already established is not an ideal time. Anyyyway when I was in need of a little walk and finally ready to stock up on vino now that I’m no longer breastfeeding it seemed like the perfect time.

This store is a kinda perfect wine shop. The selection is very nicely curated and organized by style and region. And I love a wine store (or bookstore) that has handwritten descriptions of the inventory. And that inventory is cute. Should I choose a wine by the label? Probably not. But when all the labels are fun, it’s inevitable. I can now affirm it’s possible to be both: cute and tasty.

I walked out with a bottle of red, a bottle of white, and a can of rosé so I’d say it was a successful trip. I was happy to learn that Pompette regularly has sales and tastings so I’m going to have to hit those up. But mostly I’m excited about the wine bar that they’re opening next door. I have a feeling it’s going to be super cute and a great addition to the neighborhood.
