Mirepoix

It’s happening. Spring is coming. It’s here? Thank goodness because I need something that brings joy this week. Work has been interesting but frustrating lately. Things just keep going wrong. The bright side is that the issues are not our fault, but we do have to clean up the messes. I’m looking forward to a packed weekend – the annual Woodlawn St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Saturday and a Peloton event followed by book club on Sunday.

On Saturday, my beau had a workout class and then earned himself some chill time so I took V out for the first half of the day. We hit up a kids club and he had an absolute blast. It was 2 hours of fun (more than 3 if you include travel time, which is an activity in itself) and included lunch, snacks, and two books he got to take home – well worth the $60. The kids club was right around the corner from Kalustyan’s, an NYC institution. This market has every spice blend imaginable and an absurd grain selection. Finn enjoyed running up and down the aisles and helping me pick some goodies that we can’t find just anywhere. And since I don’t find myself in this neighborhood nearly as often as I used to, I had to take advantage.

Between the kids club and the post-nap hang while Albie was out with friends, Saturday was all me and V. I had a great time hanging out with him, but wasn’t complaining at all when Albie took him to the museum all Sunday morning. I couldn’t stay away so I met up with them for lunch, but I had a solid 2 hours home alone. I leisurely sipped two cups of coffee, read the paper, got dressed in something cute, and watched 1.5 shows. It was so nice to have a slow Sunday morning.

I made it to my freebie today! And the best part is that all the stars aligned. I left the apartment early with no fuss, the subway ran on time, and I got out at my stop with 20 minutes to spare before I needed to be at my desk. All made for the perfect circumstances to get myself a large hot latte with an extra shot, the perfect drink for a hazy day.
