Mirepoix

The Manager on my team (aka the person who reports into me and is the only other person on my team) has her last day today. I really enjoyed working with her and thought she did a great job, but it was clear from day one that this was not a role she was really interested in. But hey, we’ve all been there – when we’ve experienced a layoff or know it’s desperately time for a higher salary so you take a job you know isn’t what you want because them bills gotta get paid. At least I have. And then, like her, I jumped as soon as I landed something that was a real fit. I’m happy for her that she found something that better aligns with her interests, but I’m not looking forward to training someone new (or the lag time before they start). Other than that looming stress, it’s been a really nice week. I booked a very last minute flight for me and V to head to Savannah for the Passover seders. It’s going to be a very quick minute trip, but it’s longgggg overdue so I’m really looking forward to it.

This city can be so dang small! We were having a lovely lil time at the Children’s Museum on Sunday when suddenly one of Finn’s best friends ran up and toppled him with a hug. They were there by pure coincidence, which made it even better. We decided to all go to lunch together and while that comes with its own challenges (two 3-year-olds think they’re sooooo funny to scream-laugh in the middle of a restaurant), having 3 adults there (and more than one kid to entertain each other) takes some of the pressure off.

When Jourdan extended a last minute invite to join her for the Mets game on Monday, I said yes almost immediately. The first baseball game of the season is always something special, even if it’s not for your preferred team and the temperatures are one of the coldest in Citi Field history. I don’t get to see Jourdan nearly as often as I like and we had a juicy catch-up.

We celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary this week! We did our real celebrating over the weekend (a fabulous date night at the Met, followed by a delicious meal at cocktails at Hoexter’s) but I always want to commemorate the actual day. It happened to fall on a Tuesday this year and since we ALWAYS celebrate Taco Tuesday we decided to order in from a fave spot instead of cooking to make the night just a bit more special.
