Book Review: Deep End

Nobody ever sees Scarlett with boys. She’s far too serious for that and too focused on getting her head back in the game after an accident derailed her collegiate diving career. But when her teammate, Penelope, breaks up with her longtime boyfriend, Lukas, Pen suggests Scarlett and Lukas get together. It seems strange, but Penelope and Lukas were not well matched because Lukas is looking for a dominant/submissive partnership…and it turns out Scarlett yearns for that as well. It was meant to be a fun, no-strings release, but it soon becomes something much more.

I’ve only recently gotten into the romance genre and had not gravitated toward the sports romance sub-genre; it just wasn’t my thing. This book changed that. Perhaps it’s because these are college athletes and campus stories are very much my thing. Either way, we’re here now and I loved watching Scarlett and Lukas explore their deepest desires, both in and out of the bedroom. Yes, it’s spicy, but it’s not overly-kinky-whips-and-chains. It’s more about why people are into certain things and how beautiful is when someone can see you for who you truly are – before you even know yourself. This is what happens when you know what you want and stop being afraid to ask for it.
