Mirepoix

What a week it’s been! On Tuesday, I was supposed to host an article club but ended up canceling when most attendees bailed last minute. It’s a good thing, though, because the gorgeous meal I prepared was STOLEN. I had been so proud of myself too. I planned ahead and got everything ready the night before. I stashed it all in the recycling room the night before at 9:30pm. When I went downstairs at 6pm the next night, almost all of it was gone. And we’re talking stuff that was consolidated and sealed in bags that were tied to. We’re talking my serving tray and live edge cheese board. We’re talking my $25 Sabre spreading knife that was imported from France. There is no way someone thought my mini mason jar of homemade salad dressing or unopened wedge of mushroom Brie was up for grabs. That definitely put a damper on the week. Then we have parties getting moved because of the Canadian wildfires affecting air quality. And then there’s the poop lettuce (the parasite affecting produce) going around.

We went to a great exhibit at the Museum of the City of New York over the weekend. “Another Wonderland: Abram Champanier’s Alice Muralhas restored a 16-panel New Deal-era mural that was created for the children’s ward at Gouverneur Hospital. In the paintings, Alice and friends are traipsing around NYC and they’re just lovely. The exhibit opened with a family day, complete with crafts and music.

We had to evacuate the office this week when the fire alarm started going off and no it was not a drill. Turns out there was an hvac issue on one of the other floors so we’re all safe and sound. Definitely some excitement!

I’m really enjoying my current book and really really enjoying my new local coffee shop. Hoping I become a recognized regular soon.
