After torpedoing her career by sleeping with the married politician she was interning for, Cassidy is taking a mental health break from DC by heading home to Berkeley, CA. There, she has a one night stand with her high school rival, Leon, to blow off steam and escape her childhood bedroom. But when she is continually cramped into rooms with Leon thanks to their mutual friend, Willa, the tension simmers. He lacks ambition; she has too much of it – but they both wound up in the same place: stalled. Perhaps they can help each other by meeting in the middle.
Big Fan was 831 Stories’ first novella and the brand launched with a bang. Of the ten books they’ve published, it’s probably top 3 for me…and this sequel might also be in that top 3, which is surprising because it takes on the POV of the “other woman” from Big Fan and how could I root for her?! This was a beautiful reminder about extending grace and finding the courage to start anew.
4 out of 5 stars.
