As of today, summer is officially over (for NYC parents, that is). All the kids went back to school today, and I am awestruck by the fact that I have a kindergartner. We kept Finn in a routine all summer long and had him in camp from 8:30-6pm through 8/21. After that, however, all bets were off. We saved up all our vacation experiences for once programming ended and then cashed it in, packing the 2.5 weeks before school with tons of fun. For the first week, the Alberts went to Coney Island and Great Wolf Lodge. The next week, I took Finn to Paris (more on that in a separate post). And now my parents are here to take us across the finish line when we had to go back to work. It’s been an absolutely incredible summer, one that I think Finn will remember fondly; I certainly know I will.
Finn and I returned from Paris on Friday evening, just in time to relax into the long Labor Day weekend. We kept ourselves busy the whole time, including a visit to the Museum of Natural History. The invisible world’s exhibit is always amazing for kids.
College football is back! For the Notre Dame game, both Alberts requested a snackie plate so we hit up Zabars because Finn loves getting to do taste tests of the cheese
I’m so happy my parents were able to come and help out for these last couple days before school starts. For the last two years, we’ve been saying we wanted to take them to a neighborhood Peruvian spot because we just knew they’d love it. We finally did, and they did indeed love it.
