The Sun family has built a tech empire, currently ruled by matriarch Roses. But Roses knows her time will eventually come to an end and needs a male heir to carry on the family name. Despite being gay and single, her nephew Wayward seems the best choice, so she masterminds it to fruition. But everyone wants a piece of the fortune, and Wayward’s cousins will not go down without a fight.
This book is billed as Succession meets Crazy Rich Asians and I agree. It’s got obscene wealth paired with cutthroat family politics. This family is chaotic and dysfunctional, which means they’re also kinda hilarious. But they are also strung together by longstanding love so, although there is backstabbing galore, they support each other in their own lovable way.
4.5 out of 5 stars.
