Mirepoix

Summer vacation is officially over, school is back in session, college football has returned, and we’re back in a routine. We’re currently smack dab in between the high holidays, which have arrived during a particularly busy season. There are a lot of birthday parties, business to handle, and even a few whirlwind trips. Everyone talks about the last month of school being so overwhelming, but this year it’s September that’s really doing it for me.

I can’t believe my little man is off to kindergarten! His first day was exactly one week ago and he has adapted really well. It’s odd to witness him growing up, but I love watching him excitedly soak up new knowledge and experiences.

While reaching for my typical strawberry vanilla prebiotic soda at TJ’s, an employee leaned in to ask if I’d tried this new seasonal flavor and strongly recommended it as her favorite by a long shot. I said I had not and was skeptical, but I’m so glad I listened because it’s great. I don’t buy into the health claims of prebiotic soda, but I do like a lot (but DEF not all) of the flavors and carbonation level so it has become a fun treat.

I did not want to let Finn play adult Monopoly, fearing it was far too complicated, but after he kept begging, I eventually relented as a way to escape the tv when we were stuck inside. Turns out he totally picked it up, and I think it might be a good way to help him practice math. AND it’s a game I enjoy playing so this feels like a win.
