Book Review: The Correspondent

Sybil is a stubborn septuagenarian who lives alone and acts like it. She has plenty of opinions (lots of thoughts on manners) and is stuck in her ways. She is committed to her daily practice of letter writing, and it is through these letters that her deepest relationships (with her children and even beloved authors) are revealed…along with her grief and avoidance.

We love an epistolary novel! Really, though, this book is absolutely lovely. I was reminded that it’s not necessary to have a fully new lease on life, but perhaps getting comfortable with how the existing life panned out is a nice route. It’s never too late to become self aware.

5 out of 5 stars.
