Book Review: The Wasp Trap

After the professor who ran their summer program passes away, six old friends reunite to reminisce at a dinner party. Things quickly go south when it turns into a locked room murder mystery where each guest is forced to reveal a secret, choosing one to kill off until the right secret emerges. But mind games are par for the course for this group. The summer program they attended back in 1999 had them developing a dating app that hinged on weeding out actual psychopaths based on a detailed questionnaire.

Perhaps because we’re sitting around judging how psychologically damaged these characters are (plus, you know, murder), it reminded me of the tv show You, minus the gore. Also like You, much of the dialogue felt too generic, verging on cheesy. But if you enjoy a whodunnit, this is a good one.

3.75 out of 5 stars.
