This week has felt weird. I took PTO on Tuesday because schools and aftercare were closed for Election Day. He had remote school and I didn’t have any major plans for the second half of the day (other than voting), so it just kind of felt a little blahhh for a vacation day. Then today I’m WFH for the second half of the day to accommodate parent teacher conferences. On top of all that, work has been very busy so the strange schedule is throwing me off particularly hard. I may not know which way is up, but it’s still been a week full of cool things – with more to come over the weekend!

Halloween on a Saturday is WILD. There were honestly too many options! On Friday, Finn wore costume number one to his school parade (he was a master magi). He put it on again for Saturday morning activities (Museum of the City of New York and La Marqueta) before changing into his Jack Skellington costume for trick or treating and neighborhood celebrations, where we joined as Sally and Zero. It’s extra fun not having to worry about going to bed on time for school the next day and less stressful without having to worry about picking up from school with ample time for celebrating.

I took Finn with me to vote and really tried to impress upon him the importance of exercising such a cherished right. I have such fond memories of going to the polls with my own mom (back when you got to pull a lever) and hope he remembers how he was advocating for civil rights at such a young age.

In an effort to boost morale around the office (these attorneys work very long hours, fully in-office, on exceptionally emotionally taxing cases), we’ve been doing quarterly events and the most recent one was yesterday. We went to a pottery studio and threw around some clay – something that got us out of the office and out of our heads without taking up too much time (I was home at 8:30). I can’t wait to see how my pieces come out once they’re fired.
