3 on Thursday

I had big plans for last weekend and though it ended up being fun, it was more laid back than I expected.  I imagined I would run around for a bit on Saturday when, instead, I binge-watched ten episodes of “Jane the Virgin” and ordered a cheesesteak for supper.  I’m not saying that’s a bad thing.  I’m very happy I took it easy this past weekend because this one is gonna be a doozy with a concert, a bachelorette party (that I’m crashing), and a boozy brunch planned.

Two Fridays ago, after a very difficult week at work, I decided I wanted to try and make a real cocktail.  I broke out the cocktail shaker and used the proper measurements to make a legit dirty martini.  Instead of olives, I used Rick’s Picks smokra (spicy/smoky pickled okra) along with its brine.  It was delicious…and very strong.

As a pick-me-up, Linds sent a surprise to my office.  I didn’t even know gourmet rice krispies were a thing, but Treat House creates some really fun flavors.  This package put a much needed smile on my face.

I recently saw “Deli Man,” a great documentary about NYC deli culture.  This type of restaurant is pretty unique to New York and I loved learning both the background and the future of the industry.
