My Mom and Allison arrive tonight and the rest of my family and friends will be here tomorrow night and I. Am. So. Excited. I’m pumped for my big 30th birthday celebration, but mostly I’m excited to have all of my most special people in the same place at the same time. I can’t wait to bum around the city all day tomorrow.
There is this really cool thing that happens only twice a year called Manhattanhenge. It’s when the sunset perfectly aligns with the grid of the city. There are four cross-streets where you get a particularly good view, one of which is right by my apartment. Since we had been out of town so much, we’d been going through Shawn/KG withdrawals so we made a plan to have them over for wine before watching the sunset and going out for dinner and drinks. Unfortunately, as you can see in the background of the pic, Saturday was incredibly cloudy and the crowd that had gathered for Manhattanhenge was disappointed. Obviously, we didn’t let it drag us down too much.
On Sunday afternoon I was caught in a torrential downpour with no umbrella. I don’t think I’ll be rocking this look in the future, but I will say there’s something kind of fun about a summer rain.
I arrived home to beautiful roses on Monday night. I hate to admit that Albert is MUCH better at the mushy stuff than I am. He has always been better about remembering anniversaries and one-upped me here by noting that it had been exactly three months since we made the big move to cohabitate. I wish I was better about stuff like that but love how great he is at it!
