PSA: 305 Fitness

Sometimes I think there’s a place you’ve just got to know about and my Public Service Announcements (PSAs) will give you the full skinny.

With Liz visiting from DC, I wanted to actually plan a couple things so we weren’t just wandering aimlessly.  And since we had plans to booze Saturday night, we wanted to keep the daytime activity filled and alcohol free.  With specialty gyms popping up all over the place, we thought it would be fun to get in a good workout at the start of the day.  We all know about Soul Cycle, and I’m a major fan of Mile High Run Club, but this weekend we checked out 305 Fitness.

305 Fitness is a workout that infuses the dance beats of Miami with a cardio workout.  The “dance” routines are very easy to follow (yes, even for me) but are fast paced and based in exercise so you’re actually getting in a great workout.  Right in the middle of the 55 minute class you pause for a five minute tone session.  In our class we focused on arms, and I was pleased to actually feel like it was making a difference even in such a short period of time.

I was a big fan of the overall experience.  Because they have a live dj in each class spinning great tunes along with spirited instructors, the energy level is high.  I found myself smiling while I was working out.  I also loved the way the gym itself looked.  With a black/white/neon color scheme, flamingos on the walls, and a “Make Sweat Sexy” mantra, the atmosphere was punchy.  I would describe the workout as a more intense Zumba.  I was boppin along to fun music, but I definitely felt it in my muscles the next day.  It’s the kind of workout that puts a little pep in your step.
